Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States
It was indeed a glorious day for Donald J. Trump as he sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on 20 January 2017 in Washington DC. With the motive of “Make America great again”, Trump emphasized on restoring American greatness and keeping the ‘forgotten Americans’ first. Trump was accompanied with his family, his wife Melania, his daughters Ivanka and Tiffany, and his three sons- Donald Trump Jr., Eric and, Barron Trump.
Mr. Trump looked excited as ever in a black suit and a red tie, while his wife Melania, now the first lady of the United States, wore a powder-blue suit and looked equally joyful.
Trump took the 35-word oath which was orchestrated by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and affirmed to the duties and responsibilities which he will carry forward as the President of the United States. Here is the oath of 35 words-
As Donald Trump has become the new President, the official Twitter POTUS account has been handed over to him and changes have been made to the White House website as per his policies.
Trump sated very clearly in his speech that now it is the time to take actions, instead of doing empty talks. He also added that the inauguration not only symbolizes the transfer of power from one party to another, but it is the transfer of power from Washington D.C. to the people.
Yes, this happened on 20 January 2017 and it was quite awkward. Well, many pictures and video clips are the evidence of uncomfortable rendezvous. The Obamas seemed quite composed as they warmly welcomed the Trumps to the White House. But it was till then only that everything looked so normal. The whole meeting later turned to be a little too maladroit.
Melania Trump handed a blue Tiffany Box as a gift to the former first lady Michelle Obama; she scowled while accepting the present. To make it even worse, Donald Trump interrupted the ladies in between to make his way through to greet Barack Obama. In addition to this, there were exchange of leaden hugs and kisses during their meet.
Nevertheless, Barack Obama’s attempt to be calm is really appreciable as he managed to smile throughout the meeting and talking. Like always, people took it to internet to show their response and reactions towards the awkward situation.
Clinton came face to face with Donald Trump for the very first time after her bruising defeat in the United States Presidential Elections 2016. Clinton tried to look brave and composed, but unfortunately that could not last much longer. It was quite obvious from her face that she was not happy at all. She looked quite glum and upset.
Not only this, Hillary Clinton shook hands with the 45th President of the USA Donald Trump before the inaugural luncheon and congratulated him. But as a respect for the nation’s democracy, Clinton was there beside her husband Bill Clinton, former president on the podium.
Apart from the Obamas, and the Clintons, there were several other dignitaries who were seen at the Inauguration Ceremony of Donald Trump as the President. Former President George W. Bush came with his wife Laura Welch. The internet seems to be losing over Bush’s expressions during the Inauguration Ceremony as he tried to save himself from the rain with the help of a plastic bag. Okay, that sounds funny but the poncho that he wore at the Inaugural parade was praised by the fashionistas out there. Have a look at his ensemble and how he struggled with the plastic bag.
Not only were the Bush’s spotted at the ceremony, but the 33rd President of the United States was also seen with his wife Rosalynn Smith.
As a part of the Inauguration ceremony, Donald and Melania Trump enjoyed their ‘first dance’ as they put their New York glamour on display. The couple danced to Frank Sinatra’s hit number “My Way”. Donald Trump wore a classic black tuxedo with a black bow-tie and a white button-up. Whereas, the newly first lady of the US Melania Trump wore an off-the-shoulder cream dress designed by Herve Pierre.
Trump’s daughter Ivanka was also seen at the ball with her husband Jared Kushner. She wore a princess dress designed by Carolina Herrera and looked stunning as ever. Trump also invited Vice President Mike Pence and his family at the ball. Pence’s wife wore a beautiful Cobalt blue gown, whilst Pence was dressed in a super black Tux.
In addition to this, the very famous New York dance group- the Rockettes also performed at the Inaugural ball.
Whilst there are many who might not be happy with Trump becoming the 45th President of the United States, there are people who have welcomed and congratulated him on his inauguration. Many leaders of different nations took it to social media to express their reactions and feelings. Pope Francis congratulated Donald Trump and urged him to help those in need and to show concern for the poor. He also added that Trump will be steered by ‘rich ethical and spiritual values’ that have played a key role in shaping America’s great history.
And this is how the leaders of several nations reacted via Twitter. Have a look!
