The iPhone is definitely one of the most popular pieces of technology to ever exist in the history of this world. It is by far the most iconic and the longest running smartphone brand that was actually able to retain its spark over all these years. But after all these years, how is the Apple iPhone still the hottest thing in the smartphone market? The iPhone – Launched 29th June 2007
The first ever iPhone was launched on 29th June 2007. It was also termed as the iPhone 2G. The phone was a GSM-based model and was a pioneer in the phone industry at that time. The phone opened the gate for the future iPhones in terms of features and designs among other features. Since the release of the iPhone 2G, Apple has stuck to the basics only changing minor design elements as we can all see the newer iPhone models. The iPhone 2G was also called the ‘Jesus phone’ because the awe it created upon its release. The phone was released in three models – the 4GB variant, the 8GB variant, and the 16 GB variant.

iPhone 3G – Launched 11th June 2008
Within a year of the release of the iPhone 2G, Apple came up with the iPhone 3G, the second phone in the Apple series of smartphones. Unlike the first iPhone, Apple finally introduced GPs tracking and a 3G connection to the new member of the iPhone family. iPhone 3GS – Launched 19th June 2009
On 19th June 2009, Apple launched the third member to the Apple iPhone family, that is, the Apple iPhone 3GS. The 3GS was the first phone from Apple to get an interim update. The ‘S’ stood for ‘speed’ as apple basically presented a bit better 3G with a faster processor. The phone was known for its ‘ahead of its time’ camera that could record videos up to 480p along with built-in voice controls. The iPhone 3GS was a game changer for Apple Inc.
iPhone 4 – Launched 24th June 2010
the Apple iPhone 4 was revolutionary, to say the least, period. The phone had a really high resolution in its display which the company called the Retina display. Not only that but Apple also upgraded the phone’s camera and made it a 5-megapixel camera. They also introduced the front camera for video calling for the very first time. After three models of the iPhone, Apple finally leaped further and chose to play with the model design a bit. The Apple iPhone was the first phone to be deemed as the slimmest smartphone in the world due to the flat back panel that replaced the curved one in the previous versions. The frame used in the iPhone 4 was a stainless steel one. Apple also added the brand new A4 processor that was specifically created and developed to assist users in multi-tasking.
iPhone 4S – Launched 14th October 2011
The iPhone 4S was the first phone from Apple to change up the release date of the smartphone by getting released in fall, instead of the summers. The iPhone got an update for the camera. The camera now had a capacity of taking pictures at 8 megapixels with the help of iSight. The new camera could now record full HD videos at 1080p. Apple also introduced the new A5 processor which was the first dual-chip processor in the Apple smartphones. Last but not the least, Apple gave the world its own artificial intelligence assistant, Siri. Other amazing features included the iCloud and the IMessage. The Apple iPhone 4S was launched merely nine days after the demise of Steve Jobs.
iPhone 5 – Launched 21st September 2012
The Apple iPhone 5 broke all the known records in the smartphone industry in terms of sales. Apple gave us the A6 processor along with it. The iPhone 5 had a bigger display measuring at 4 inches and also had a digital lightning connector that replaced the old 30 pin connector. It was also the first phone from Apple to have an LTE support and an aluminum frame instead of the previous stainless steel frame.
iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C – Launched 20th September 2013
It was the first time that the world, or mostly privileged white people with money, witnessed the launch of two smartphones at the same time. Apple hit two birds with the same stone as it launched the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
The iPhone 5C was a new experiment by Apple which tried to capture the low-income groups of the society. It was available in 5 different colors and had a shell made of polycarbonate instead of aluminum.

The iPhone 6 was another longer leap that Apple took. The design that it was adhering to was ditched and a newer look was adopted. The iPhone was now thinner than ever and rocked a more compact look. The display screen was larger now with a 4.7-inch screen. The iPhone 6 had NFC for functions like Apple Pay. The camera was upgraded too. The iPhone 6 Plus was a bigger variant of the iPhone 6. It had a display of 5.5 inches that made it the biggest iPhone till date.
iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus – Launched 2015
By now, people got used to the Apple event. Don’t get it wrong, though. The hype was still very much present. Apple decided to keep the same design and frame and add a few more features to it. They named the new design the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. The iPhone 6S/ 6S Plus was not much different from its previous model, the iPhone 6/ 6 Plus. On the physical front, the only difference was that the iPhone 6S/ 6S Plus had a little additional thickness and added weight, that indicated that the phone had something more in it. The phone had a better camera, a new way to use the touchscreen, better chassis, and the famous live photos.
iPhone SE – Launched 2016
The Apple iPhone SE was launched along with the awesome iPhone 7 which will be discussed after this. The iPhone SE came as a bit of a surprise as no one was expecting it. It was smaller than the iPhone 6 model and resembled the iPhone 5s’ frame. However, its innards were updated and much better. Overall, it was a value for money phone. The phone could record videos in 4K, it rocked an A9 processor chip and an M9 motion processor. It was available in two variants – 16GB and 64 GB.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus – Launched 2016
The Apple iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus were launched in _ and it proved to be one of the best iPhones that were ever built. The masterpiece came with a 5.8 inches display. The phone features a RAM of 3GB and an internal memory starting at 64GB. It had a primary camera of 12 MP and a front camera of 7 MP. Just like the iPhone 8 8Plus, the iPhone X had wireless charging. Other stark features of this model were an emphasis on augmented reality, the all-new ‘Face Lock’, and the trendsetter, bezel-less screen.
