The night of October 1st, 2017 will go down in the American history as one of the most lethal nights as it witnessed the biggest mass shooting in the contemporary America. Little did the people who had gone to enjoy country music, know that they were in for a horrific site where someone would open gunshots on them and they would have to defenselessly run for their lives. The incident has shaken the entire nation as people are still not able to process this trategy. It has also fuelled the debate pertaining to the 2nd Amendment which grants the citizens the right to own and carry arms for protection. The Liberals and left wings installed another major argument why the culprit not was addressed as the ‘terrorist’ despite the magnanimity of his crime. Here are all the updates related to the Las Vegas mass shooting.
Las Vegas is a major tourist attraction for people all over the world. Reportedly, around 40 million tourists visit the city every year.
The incident happened during a country music concert during the performance of Jason Aldean. As reported by the Vegas Police, there were around 22,000 people attending this concert being held at the Vegas strip near the Mandalay Bay Resort. The Vegas Strip is an area embedded with high-end casinos and tourist attractions. At about 10:08 PM the shooting started which was first perceived as firecrackers by the crowd. The gunshots kept being fired for at least 15 minutes when people had no defense other than running and getting out of the line of fire.
The shooter was standing at an elevated position, later found out to the police, the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. He was later identified as Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old white male who was a real estate investor. Paddock was found dead in his hotel room by the police. Reportedly he carried out this shooting from the same room. There were at least 23 firearms found at his hotel room.
He has several properties in Nevada which are being investigated by the police. During the investigation of his Mesquite home, 19 firearms were found at the residence. The home at Reno is being investigated now. The motive has not been established yet. He lived with his girlfriend, Marilou Danley in his Mesquite home who was out of the country during the shooting. She has not been considered involved in the shooting. Stephen’s brother Eric Paddock had said to the police that there was no way he could establish any motive behind the shooting. His deceased brother had no criminal record and had no violent tendencies. Paddock’s father was a bank robber who has escaped from the prison in 1868 and died a decade later.
Paddock has been solely held responsible for the unfortunate incident with no involvement of any political, terrorist or a hate group.
The shooting resulted in the death of 59 people and left more than 500 severely injured.
Soon after the shooting the first responders reached the site and tried helping the injured. People lined up outside the blood banks to donate the blood. According to the officials, there was sufficient blood to treat the victims. The Pulse Nightclub shooting in Florida was the deadliest before Sunday’s tragedy which had resulted in the death of 49 people.
